The World’s Color Authority has spoken. Are we listening? Pantone has released its color of the year, inspired by the collective emergence from the worldwide pandemic. The Color of the Year represents our strength and courage as we embrace the experiences we’ve had and our desire to change the status quo of our lives. The Color of the Year hints at a whole new way of living.
Drum roll please … The Color of the year is Viva Magenta! (#BB2649)
Pantone describes Viva Magenta as "a brave and fearless red shade that vibrates with vim and vigour" with a nod to the current trends of fearlessness and experimentation. It’s meant to inspire power, empowerment, audacity, and inclusivity. "Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative," the company says.
That’s a lot of expectations for a color!
Millennials may see the excitable shade of deep pink as a nod to the 1990’s vibe, which has become decidedly trendy in fashion. The color may be reminiscent of scrunchies, 90’s era t-shirts and Lisa Frank!
The rich, fiery magenta has already seen its way onto the runway, home décor and accessories, and more.
Would you like to insert some Viva Magenta, and all it embodies, into your world? Think baby steps!
Viva Magenta would be excellent on a front door. Envision an accent mirror rimmed in the electrifying color—or get busy and paint a few cabinet fronts. A single piece of Viva Magenta furniture in an otherwise neutral room makes a bold statement.
Or keep it simple and plant some gorgeous Viva Magenta blooms on your front porch.
